March Event Friday 21st Skyline CC 12:30pm

Hello everyone - The announcement for Skyline Country Club is attached with details. Please get your entries in early as we need to get back with Skyline in a timely manner should we  not have enough participation.

This deal is the absolutely best deal we have ever had! It includes golf, cart, use of the practice facilities, just about the best views in the City and a filet dinner with all the trimmings for a mere $50! We have about 12 dozen golf balls to give away so there will be that also.

Additionally, this is our last event.  It would be wonderful to have a great turnout at this iconic venue.

See you at Skyline!

Important Announcement

February 2, 2025

Dear SAS Members,

We have heard from a few of you as to how to proceed with this group. The thoughts include: reduce the number of times we play to every other month or quarterly or only during the winter months, eliminate the prizes (golf balls), eliminate the food, actively recruit from other clubs (almost 80% of our members are from 4 clubs in the area), conduct a survey about what we want to get out of the Club. All of these are things to consider as the group proceeds or if the group is to proceed.

What it does not include is anyone offering to step forward and participate in leading the group. All these items offered require energy and a desire for this group to continue. I would like the group to continue, however, I no longer have the energy to keep running the group. The other officers in the group also do not have the energy and desire to continue doing the work required to keep this group together.

As a result, we have an event scheduled at Forty Niners Country Club in February and at Skyline Country Club in March. The March event that will serve as the last Southern Arizona Senior Men’s Club event. Food will be included at both events. The Club will contribute to the cost of each. The balance in our treasury will be donated to a group we designate after our March tournament.

If anyone wants to take over the group, let me know and we’ll hand it off prior to emptying the treasury.

I’ll get the announcement for February out today for those of you that want to participate in that tournament.

Introduction to Southern Arizona Seniors Golf

The Southern Arizona Seniors (SAS) has monthly golf events throughout the entire year. These events are typically morning shotguns with ABCD teams from around the Southern Arizona area enjoying golf and competing for prizes and glory. Our events are normally the first or second Monday of the month. Event fee always includes a sleeve of balls, golf, cart, range balls, prizes and lunch.

We have some great venues planned for the year - the schedule can be seen on the left side of this page. Many of these courses are not available for play to the general public. Our events always provide a great value for the entry fee.

There are three special events during the year. The Individual Championship event is normally held in April. Gross and Net individual champions win recognition and a traveling trophy. The event is flighted so that everyone has a chance to compete with his peers.

May at The Highlands at Dove Mountain features an afternoon start with a special (optional) ladies tournament. The Men's and Ladies' tournaments are followed by a plated dinner. This is always a lot of fun.

Our November event is the annual Gala at Skyline Country Club. Afternoon golf for the men is followed by a great meal in Skyline's spectacular dining room, with a panoramic view of sunset of the city and the Tucson lights as darkness falls. Spouses or special guests are invited to enjoy dinner and the view. This is an event you don't want to miss.

The cost to join is $25, and annual dues are $25. This is a modest amount to pay for the opportunity to be part of this great organization. Please consider joining today.
